Tucson - Last week in March

With Stay at Home orders about all I can do is continue my
walks along the Wash

We usually walk the bike trail up to 22nd Street, but this day we went the other way to Golf Links Rd.  I have always wanted to get pictures of these sculpturesl

Please don't let your dog take my ball!

Another day we run into Coyotes in the wash

Gary is getting a little stir crazy so we head over to Saguaro National Park East

I took a short hike down one of the trails.
Gary and Tucson waited it out in the shade
Then we did the 8 mile loop drive

I missed hooking up with my friend Sandy from Desert Trails as she was sick the day we were supposed to get together for lunch and the Mirror Lab at the U of A that was cancelled anyway).  Today we met at Sweetwater Preserve to hike and catch up.  Kept our 6 foot distance.

The parking lot is full.  Mostly mountain bikers but a good amount of hikers too.  Looks live everyone is getting out before the park closures.

There are several trails that wind through all of the Saguaros.
Manyare quite large.

It's still a little early for cactus to bloom but we did fine one.
and a Happy Face
Sandy contemplates our location after I feel we made a wrong turn as our next turn should have been 1/10th of a mile and we have gone further than that.  We turned around and found the right way and made it back to the parking lot.

Lots of time to cook.  Our friend Jeanne had posted her dinner of Chicken French and it reminded me that I hadn't made it in ages.  It is a Rochester, NY restaurant staple and was always one of my go to company dinners as it is delicious and very easy to make.

Our friends Cliff and Marcia who we met in Florida and recommended the Park we are in bought a home in Green Valley.  I had driven them to the airport to go to Oregon to pick up their furniture that was in storage.  Cliff  got back with the Moving Truck the same day we were supposed to pick up Marcia at the airport so we drove their car down to Green Valley so Cliff could pick her up later.

Got to see a Sun Dog
and lots of Sunsets

We confirmed our Gig in Escalante Utah for May and June so we will have a place to stay while this COVID 19 issue continues.  Hopefully it will be somewhat resolved by then.  Meanwhile we will stay put here on a weekly basis.

Tucson - 3rd Week in March

The week starts out with closures due to COVID19.
No gathering in groups of more than 10 and all social events canceled.

My gym - the Pool - is closed!  All season there was never more than 5 people in the Pool and it was more often than not just me with 1 or 2 others.  The last day it was opened there were 24 people in the pool.

The Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner was changed from Sit Down to Take Out.  The Parade is the last Park Event.  The golf carts drove up each and every street in the Park and dispensed Beer along the way - though it was not green!

Irish Dancers

and our friend Bill the Leprechaun on his bike

Daily walks with Tucson continue and always happy to spot the Hawk

 We had some rainy days

but they are always followed by a rainbow

We go out only to the grocery store to buy what we can.  Go to use the bathroom on the way out and encounter this.

Good thing Gary found a back up at home.
Lettuce Romaine Calm!

Tucson has the right idea and Chills out with a Blizzard!

Tucson - 2nd Week in March

COVID19 is starting to affect life in Tucson!  I was supposed to go
to the Mirror Lab at Arizona State University with my friends Beth and Sandy.  Sandy was under the weather and cancelled and then the University canceled everyone else!  Gary had planned on driving me over to Desert Trails to catch a ride with Beth and he was going to visit with our friends Hughes and Judy.
We stick to that plan and Beth and I go out for lunch instead.

Went to a Vegan restaurant and I had the Coconut Curry Bowl - it was yummy!

Sunday they closed the Pool and Hot Tubs and cancelled all events.  The Pool was my daily exercise.  I was usually in there alone or maybe with 1 or 2 others.  The day they were scheduled to close there were 24!

I am going to miss this!

Meanwhile I can boost my vitamin C with some gigunda grapefruit!
Gary now has plenty of time to fix our collapsed shelf in the end table

I work on another painted rock - this time for our friends Bill and Barb who welcomed us into their circle when we first arrived and host lovely happy hours.  Also, since all churches are closed including our Church on the Dance Floor - Barb and Bill offered to host a worship group of 10 at their place.

Restaurants are closed so I decide to try making my own Coconut Curry.
Not too bad!

At least Tucson and I can continue our morning walks

We even got a dusting of snow on the mountains.
and the Sun Sets on another week
