Trip South - Tucson AZ - Week 3

We start out the week with a visit for dinner from our friends Beth and Sandy

Tucson makes a new friend, Daisy the Bassett Hound.  Her Mom works full-time at the Y and she starts bellowing at 5:30 a.m. when she leaves.  We bring her out during the day if we are home.

We meet friends from Desert Trials at Three Canyons Beer and Wine Garden
to listen to a band we like.

Outside with good friends and good music.

What a nice evening!  Before leaving, I check my phone and see I have a text from a friend at the Park who usually kidnaps Tucson when he is home alone.  I check it and see this!  Forunately I can see that it's not ours.  I call her and find out it is down the row from us.  I guess the park was filled with fire trucks and emergency vehicles, Tucson was OK at her place.  This is what happens when you smoke in bed.!

Fortunately the owner got out OK

I go to the Art Festival at the Museum with my friend Beth

We rediscover the Park down the road to walk Tucson, Chuck Ford Lakeside Park

It is about a mile around the Pond but you can't cross over the dam at the end of the loop and have to t turn around, making it a 2 mile walk.  It is a windy day so not many fishermen or ducks

Another beautiful sunset to end the week.

Trip South - Tucson AZ - Week 2

Start out the week meeting some friends for a ladies hike.  We go the trails in the South section of Tucson Mountain Park

 Typical Desert Hike

 with some beautiful views

There's a reason they call this section the Camaro Loop

 A crested Saguaro

 an interesting art display

It's Veterans Day so we go to BJs Restaurant and Brewhaus for their free Dinner for Veterans.  The wait is 2 hours but they say if we find a table at the Bar we can sit there right away.

Gary had the Baked Ziti

and I had the cauliflower and quinoa power bowl

I finally got my hummingbird feeder set up in the olive tree.  It came and kept flying over to Tucson.  You can see it in front of the white trailer

Tucson and  I take some walks on the wash

and we walk the bike trail across the wash

 Enjoy more beautiful sunsets

and get a visit from our friends  Mike and Cathy to check out the Park

Another good week in Tucson!

Trip South - Tucson, AZ - week 1

We must be close - we pass the Air Force Base

We finally arrive at our home for the Winter - Tucson Meadows/Winterhaven RV Park

We get a really nice site with an Olive tree in the back

It's a really nice little Park and the people are friendly.  Average age of the Mobil Home Park is 82, but some of them are hard to keep up with!

The RV Park facilities

We have access to all the amenities of the mobile home park too.

My favorite is the Pool!

The Air Show must be coming up

One reason for coming to Tucson for the winter is that Gary uses the VA Hospital here for his medical

Tucson and I usually walk the Wellness trail while we wait.

We get to go to our favorite breakfast spot- Jerry Bobs!

Friends invited us to go to the Airshow with them

It is a hot sunny day so most people are seated in the shade under a plane's wing

We find a spot

Good information to know

You can tour the inside of the planes.  We went in the Cargo Plane - Lockhead CM-5 Super Galaxy

It has a wing span of 222' 8" and is 247' long.  It can travel at 518 mph.  It can go from California to Japan while carrying 120,000 lbs.  It flies with a crew of 7 with a maximum weight of 840,000 lbs.

Gary gets comfy

Looks like he found his next tow vehicle

The Air-force Guys get the best spots!

After shock Jet Fire Truck smoke behind the Thunderbirds.  It can travel up to 407 mph and runs off of two Rolls-Royce Bristol Viper jet engines, which together make 24,000 horsepower.  It raced a jet airplane and it was too close to call,

The Thunderbirds didn't perform until the last 1/2 hour

Some videos

Flying upside down

It was hard to watch and get photos because they kept flying into the Sun

Despite the heat, we had a good time.  Gary even had them make this for me!

Skies have been most blue and temps in the 80's.  But when there are clouds, they are pretty

and certainly help with the sunsets
