Waynesville - End of Nov. Morganton Point, GA

When we got back from Cedar Point, we moved up to the tenting area.  The 2nd day they turned off the water.  Next dentist appt probably not until Dec. 3rd , so we decide to do another road trip.  This time I found a spot in GA closer to home.

It was a roller coaster ride there.

Morganton Point Campground

A nice site, Water and Electric

A nice trail along the Lake

They have severalanimal cut outs for the kids to find along the way

Tucson found the Fox!

The Blue Ridge Lake is part of the 3,290 acre Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) reservoir,

There's a small Theater in Blue Ridge so we go to see The Gift of the Magi.  It was opening night and they were having Champagne and cookies after the performance, but we were tired and passed on it.  Good thing, as when we got back they were getting ready to close and lock the gate.

We went and checked out the dam

And did a short hike on the Mineral Springs Nature Trail

We did a thrift store day.  Seems like most were for support of animals.  Found some needed bargains too!

Another walk up past the closed section where they are renovating sites

Some did a nice job on this rock

Looks like these are going to be walk in walk down sites

A couple nice sunsets.

The. I get a call from my dentist that they can finish up my dental work the next day.  So we pack up and leave a day early

A quick stop along the way

Get to the dentists and get my first bite of a whole apple in a long time

Some cold weather is coming in (20's at night).

So we enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner

And leave the Mountains to head to Florida

Waynesville, NC - Trip to Cedar Point NC Fort Macon

We venture out to Emerald Isle to visit Fort Macon.

There is a nice trail from the parking lot so we take Tucson for a walk before we go to the Fort.

The Fort was built below ground level.

There are some WWII canons

And a fisherman's path

We start the tour of the Fort.

The construction is beautiful.

Lower level cannons

The Fort has 26 rooms (casements). They now recreate what was there.

The Fort is Pentagon shaped with a ditch separating its cover way and inner citadel.

It cost  $463,790 to construct and used 9 million bricks, those alone would cost several million dollars today.

Looking forward to more exploration in the area.

Waynesville, NC - 2nd week Nov. Trip to Cedar Point NC

Still waiting on Dental work so we decide to take a break and go to the coast.  We overnight at Neuseway Nature Park in Kinston, NC about 1 hour from our final destination.

A nice park with a nature center and planetarium (closed today)

It's a first come, first served Park and I wasn't sure we'd find a spot, but we go a pull thru.

Continued the trip to Cedar Point outside Emerald Isle on the coast

A nice Nat'l Forest Service Park with Large sites

A short walk down the road is a nature walk

Several raised boardwalks through a Marsh

With some picturesque stops along the way

Think we'll enjoy our week here!
