Tucson - First 2 weeks in April

Tucson is under a stay at home order and requiring social distancing.  It has become easier since a lot of people have headed out.

 

Not much to do except ride the bike around the Park.  It is just over 4 miles if you go up and down every road.  Cactus are starting to bloom.

One night around 5 p.m. we had visitors behind us on the wrong side of the gate

 

 They are nasty critters,  I keep my distance as 

I don't want to get charged by one again!

Thank goodness for access to the bike trail across the wash.  Don't know what I'd do with our morning 2-3 mile walk.

Birds are out in the early morning before it gets hot.

There are always hummingbirds hanging out on the tops of trees

This plump quail was on the railing.

Not sure is this a Coopers or Gray Hawk

 On the bike trail there is a dirt path that leads through memorial plantings.  This one had some driftwood like wood placed around it.  I have added onto it every time I walk by. 

We still see Coyotes in the wash

Probably because there are so many rabbits around

 We had a Pink Super Moon this month

and what looked to me like an Easter Lamb

 No Easter celebrations this year so I painted some Easter Egg rocks

and dispersed them along the trail Easter Morning

I only was only able to make 10 as it poured rain Saturday.  The next day all were gone except two I placed at the sculptures - one by the rabbit and the other by the Turtle

Staving off total insanity by painting rocks.  

First I find rocks to make flowers with.

Glue them on bigger rocks

and then paint them and write sayings on them

Even managed a butterfly and dragonfly

I had made this one for friends who live in the mobile home section of the Park and always invited us to happy hour.

They wanted one to take home to Wisconsin for their Garden - the butterfly is real one I found and have been carrying around for awhile.

Only 2 more weeks before we head up to Utah.  I confirmed with the B&B in Escalante that they still want us to work.  Thank God I had found this job back in December as I don't know where we would go now with most Parks and Campgrounds closed.

Tucson - Last week in March

With Stay at Home orders about all I can do is continue my
walks along the Wash

 

 

We usually walk the bike trail up to 22nd Street, but this day we went the other way to Golf Links Rd.  I have always wanted to get pictures of these sculpturesl

Another day we run into Coyotes in the wash

Gary is getting a little stir crazy so we head over to Saguaro National Park East

I took a short hike down one of the trails.

Gary and Tucson waited it out in the shade

Then we did the 8 mile loop drive

I missed hooking up with my friend Sandy from Desert Trails as she was sick the day we were supposed to get together for lunch and the Mirror Lab at the U of A that was cancelled anyway).  Today we met at Sweetwater Preserve to hike and catch up.  Kept our 6 foot distance.

The parking lot is full.  Mostly mountain bikers but a good amount of hikers too.  Looks live everyone is getting out before the park closures.

There are several trails that wind through all of the Saguaros.  

Manyare quite large.

It's still a little early for cactus to bloom but we did fine one.

Sandy contemplates our location after I feel we made a wrong turn as our next turn should have been 1/10th of a mile and we have gone further than that.  We turned around and found the right way and made it back to the parking lot.  

Lots of time to cook.  Our friend Jeanne had posted her dinner of Chicken French and it reminded me that I hadn't made it in ages.  It is a Rochester, NY restaurant staple and was always one of my go to company dinners as it is delicious and very easy to make. 

Our friends Cliff and Marcia who we met in Florida and recommended the Park we are in bought a home in Green Valley.  I had driven them to the airport to go to Oregon to pick up their furniture that was in storage.  Cliff  got back with the Moving Truck the same day we were supposed to pick up Marcia at the airport so we drove their car down to Green Valley so Cliff could pick her up later.

We confirmed our Gig in Escalante Utah for May and June so we will have a place to stay while this COVID 19 issue continues.  Hopefully it will be somewhat resolved by then.  Meanwhile we will stay put here on a weekly basis.
