Trip North - Schodack Island State Park - Work

I had found us a hosting job at Schodack Island State Park just outside Albany, NY on the Hudson River.  A couple hours of work a day and just being a presence in the campground in exchange for a site for 2 weeks.

Not a lot of action at the Park this early in the year, but it does fill up pretty good on the weekends.

Spring is just arriving here and the red buds are blooming

It's a really nice park, situated on the Hudson River

It has a few hiking trails.  We walk them to take out any invasive/obtrusive vines.  The japanese bittersweet will take over if left to itself

They used the chinese bittersweet to make this deer sculpture

Canoe/Kayak launch area

Weeding is one of the tasks we can do

Tucson is a good supervisor
Gary hard at work
I had already started weeding before I remembered to take the before picture

Finished with these beds

This one had a bunch of crab grass growing into it

Left one of my Kindness rocks for the staff

It wasn't all work - we did get to play . .

Trip North - Outer Banks to New York

 A quick break in Virginia

Arrive in Pennsylvania.  The plan is to layover at Cabela's in Hamburg.  Tucson is super excited because I told him he would get to go shopping.

 We have stayed here before.

I let Tucson out and we head to the store.  Unfortunately it was Sunday and they closed early

There was a man there with 12 hunting dogs, they filled the available dog pens.

and a couple of horses.  There are a couple small paddocks

We did the final stretch to Gary's brothers in Lake Luzerne.  Some advice - don't take Route 88 - a non-stop washboard.

We arrive in one piece and set up camp for a few days until our hosting job starts at Schodack Island State Park

A nice sunset

a Supermoon

May 1st we head to Schodack Island State Park

Our site - CAP is Camper Assistance Program.  We get a free site for being a presence and available to campers for questions and doing some light work.

This will be home for the next 2 weeks
