Tucson - 1st 2 weeks in February

Start out the month seeing my favorite hawk

Catch the full moon setting in the morning.

It finally warms up enough to use the sun oven.  Vegetarian Lasagna.

Amazing sunsets

 There are aliens among us!

Super fun Super Bowl party with friends

Invited to our friend Marcia's Cello chamber music concert.  she played Cello with a Pianist

 She is very accomplished.

We became friends when we were in Florida.  They were staying at the campground we were working at and Invited us to their church to hear her play.  They also introduced us to our camground here in Tucson.

There was an art show going on too. Straight from the Heart.  Artwork featuring art by women from Perryville Women’s Prison
 – Arizona’s only state-run prison for women.

Julio Miramontes in front of his painting "Tradition".  He used a bed sheet and discarded two-by-fours to create and frame his piece while in Arizona State Prison in Yuma.

The women cut out stencils with pushpins, “quilling” paper to make flowers and cards, mixing paints from eye makeup, coffee or Kool-Aid powder, and creating “art sponges” from sanitary pads.

The woman who painted this Buffalo was upset because the Prison did away with the acrylic paints.  She had already prepared this canvas to paint in acrylics.  She mixed baby powder with watercolors to mimic the opaque quality of acrylics. she said she'd never do it again, but she said the civil disobedience was worth it.

Finally, our neighbors behind us had seen my glass plate owl and wanted one.  Was able to piece one together for her.

Tucson - Last 2 weeks in January

The 2nd half of January starts out with a couple days of heavy rain.  The wash actually has running water

And a small waterfall

Daily trips to the VA to visit Gary in Rehab.  Fortunately only ran into the train once.

Finally gets the big bandage off.  Quite the scar

Then it turns cold.

Snow up on the Mountain.

 and Frost on the car

Left to my own devices, I continue to paint everything in sight

Spring another leak.

Scar is looking better and he is coming home!

He is able to do a stroll on the bike path!

Tucson - 2nd week in January

We head into Tucson early for Gary's knee replacement surgery

Surgery was a success, though there were some issues so they are keeping him 2 nights in hospital on a monitor before sending him to rehab for 2 weeks

Tucson and I kill time walking along the wash and see the resident hummingbird

Keep myself busy when not visiting the hospital with long put off crafts.

Got rainy and I ran out of rocks so just painted on the other side.

Nice "Cotton Candy" Sunsets

Tucson - 1st week of January

Week starts with a beautiful sunrise.

We had a leak somewhere with water coming out from under the kitchen sink.

The Hummingbirds are out.

For my birthday Gary was going to take me out for a nice dinner but it was closed on Mondays so I get my raincheck dinner at Kingfisher

We originally planned on an early dinner, late lunch at 3:00 but the online reservation system showed no tables available from 3:00 to 4:30, so I booked 2:30.   Got there and diningnroom was empty.  We were told it was Happy Hour from 3-4:30 and food only available at the Bar.  We explained it was a special occasion so we were seated in dining area.

I had Hawaiian Fish in Macadamia crust, Gary had the Tuna special.

A  birthday dessert

And some spectacular sunsets

Make it to our favorite breakfast spot, Jerry Bobs by the airport

And I organize my closet

Gary gets his knee replacement next week!
