Trip South - NY to CO

We  leave NY and head to Colorado to visit Gary's daughter,  grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  We try to travel no more than 250 miles a day so it will take 5 days.

Passing through Dunkirk, NY

We stop for a lunchbreak at Barcelona Lighthouse.

We stop at a Cabela's for the night in Avon, OH.  Turns out it is much smaller than the on in Harrisburg and had no water or dump station available and a much smaller parking lot, which is full because Santa is arriving on a Bass boat at 5 pm.

Once the parade go started Gary parked  behind the store until the "RV" parking opened back up.

By 7 pm the parking lot was still pretty full so we found a spot on the side of the building.  Makes us realize how small our new house really is.

Indiana wants us . . .

 Lots of cornfields.

Nights are getting well below freezing so I make sure to find spots with at least electricity and hopefully bathrooms. I find Prophetstown State Park is open with FHUs so I booked 1 night.

Huge park, almo a mile from entrance to campground. Reserved a pull through site so we wouldn't have to unhook car for just one night

The park is in the middle of Prairie Grasslands.

It  is Indiana’s newest state park, located where the Tippecanoe River meets the Wabash near the town of Battle Ground.

It has a 1920s farm, Native American Village and trails through 900 acres of restored prairie. It even has an Aquatic Center tube slide, body flume, lazy river float area, adventure channel and zero-entry pool with play features.

They had the trails decorated with scarecrows for Halloween .

There was so much to see and do, I booked a 2nd night and we visited Tippecanoe Battle Site.

Next stop Missouri

The Missouri River

Found a spot at a County Camground in Macon, MO and it's a pull through.

Gary wakes up with severe pain in his arm.  He had been fighting winds driving all day the day before.  Take him to ER at 6:30 am and they give him a couple oxytocin and 2 steroid shots.  No driving for him today!

I get us to our next stop, another city park in Beaver, NE.

Beavercreek Corner Bar and restaurant is open and walking distance.

We  continue through Nebraska

And land at our next spot a small RV Park at a Days Inn and gas station

Good thing we have electricity and tank heaters

and we make it to Colorado!

A  stop for breakfast

and we arrive at Gary's daughters!

Waynesville - 3rd week October and departure

Almost time to leave.  One last potluck dinner.

A trip to camping world for an oil change.  They put in the wrong oil.  Guess they couldn't read the fill cap.

Looks like the Fall foliage is coming to an end.  We had planned on staying to the bitter end and leave on Nov. 1st to he sure to see the Fall colirs and take a leisurely route South through FL, AL, MS and TX.

Time to get out of Dodge, Jack Frost has arrived!

We pack up, Vote and head North?!?!?  Yes, Gary's grandson wants to see him and we want to visit his daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren north of Denver so Tucson via the Northern route!

Tennessee

Virginia

We love Virginia's!  Layed over at a Walmart and next morning the battery on the tow vehicle was dead.  Went into Walmart to buy an emergency battery charger but they were sold out and said to try Auto Zone 1/2 mile down the road.  Knowing that one man's 1/2 mile is another's 2 miles we stopped at the Mr. Tire at the main road for directions.  They were kind enough to offer to charge the battery for us.  We get back on the road and while looking for a spot for breakfast came across another Auto Zone.  Stopped in to have battery checked.  it was dead again and so they took it out and put it on a quick charge while we went across the road for breakfast.  Battery tested fine, so a problem with Braking system.

Pennsylvania

Our next layover is Cabela's in Hamburg

Tucson's favorite!

I get to go shopping!

We get to Gary's brothers in Lake Luzerne

Still some Fall colors here.

We spend a few days then head to Sand Lakes outside Albany to visit Gary's grandson who is running heavy equipment for a Sand and Gravel company

Deluxe accommodations in the employee parking lot.

We have a nice visit and even get a tour

Next stop Rochester.  A quick stop for lunch.

We arrive at our friends in Scottsville

I get my mammogram taken care of and get to visit her daughter's new horse

A quick stop wish we had time to visit more people but we have to get to Denver before snowfall!
