We leave NY and head to Colorado to visit Gary's daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We try to travel no more than 250 miles a day so it will take 5 days.
Passing through Dunkirk, NY
We stop for a lunchbreak at Barcelona Lighthouse.
We stop at a Cabela's for the night in Avon, OH. Turns out it is much smaller than the on in Harrisburg and had no water or dump station available and a much smaller parking lot, which is full because Santa is arriving on a Bass boat at 5 pm.
Once the parade go started Gary parked behind the store until the "RV" parking opened back up.
By 7 pm the parking lot was still pretty full so we found a spot on the side of the building. Makes us realize how small our new house really is.
Indiana wants us . . .
Lots of cornfields.
Nights are getting well below freezing so I make sure to find spots with at least electricity and hopefully bathrooms. I find Prophetstown State Park is open with FHUs so I booked 1 night.
Huge park, almo a mile from entrance to campground. Reserved a pull through site so we wouldn't have to unhook car for just one night
The park is in the middle of Prairie Grasslands.
It is Indiana’s newest state park, located where the Tippecanoe River meets the Wabash near the town of Battle Ground.
It has a 1920s farm, Native American Village and trails through 900 acres of restored prairie. It even has an Aquatic Center tube slide, body flume, lazy river
float area, adventure channel and zero-entry pool with play features.
They had the trails decorated with scarecrows for Halloween .
There was so much to see and do, I booked a 2nd night and we visited Tippecanoe Battle Site.
Next stop Missouri
The Missouri River
Found a spot at a County Camground in Macon, MO and it's a pull through.
Gary wakes up with severe pain in his arm. He had been fighting winds driving all day the day before. Take him to ER at 6:30 am and they give him a couple oxytocin and 2 steroid shots. No driving for him today!
I get us to our next stop, another city park in Beaver, NE.
Beavercreek Corner Bar and restaurant is open and walking distance.
We continue through Nebraska
And land at our next spot a small RV Park at a Days Inn and gas station
Good thing we have electricity and tank heaters
and we make it to Colorado!
A stop for breakfast
and we arrive at Gary's daughters!
