Three Rivers Petroglyphs

Our next stop was Three River's Petroglyph Site.   I had read that they had some camping there.

When we first got there the 2 RV sites were chained off but after checking it was just to keep other campers out or from people using them for day use. We have the Senior Access Pass so the site was only $9 with water and electric and a really great view.

Across the road was a trail that leads to the remains of a Mogollon village, they were probably responsible for the petroglyphs here.  They occupied the area for about 400 years, the site was partially excavated in 1976.

There were lots of rabbits around

Another 1/2 mile trail links a lot of the Petroglyphs

Over 20,000 have been found here

It is great that you can get up close to them

Though there were places where it looked like chunks of rock may have been taken at some point

A very good choice to stay for the night!
