Alaska Sealife Center

It has been raining pretty much 24/7 all week and the Lake water is rising.  We also keep hearing about a Glacial Lake formed  by an ice dam is due to bust open and flood the Lake.  We hope it is after we leave.

The dock is underwater and it is up to the sauna stairs and hot tub next door.
The train is done for the season but Tucson still continues to hold out hope
Our day off this week is - surprise - rainy!  So we head to Seward to finally go to the Alaska Sea Life Center
Gary finds his fishing  boat

There are many cool aquariums

Ophelia the Octopus sculpture was made by students from debris washed up on the beach
There are touch aquariums with Sea Anenome
and Starfish

It is raining outside  but I duck out for a quick shot of this Seal
There is a section with Sea birds and this Puffin poses nicely
This female Sea Lion doesn't look happy that the male is trying to invade her space
but they kiss and make up
Looks like the Seal is doing Yoga this morning
Dinner!

A couple of Steller guys!
Scattered sculptures look pretty life like
This tufted Puffin makes a big splash
The center takes in injured animals and rehabilitates them.  This baby Walrus was brought in on June 17th at 10 days old weighing 120lbs.  Now at 3 months old it weighs 210lbs.
It is bottle fed 1.3 liters every 3-5 hours with some solids.  Because of its young age at rescue it cannot be released but will be found a home with other walrus at another aquarium.

Next stop is the library to get some copies made

It has a small museum of the local history as well

A great rainy day off!
