Sundance, WY - Devil's Tower

We head to Sundance, WY which is near Devil's Tower - Gas up with some cheap diesel before we go.
It is nice to see green again.  Sundance is in the beginning of the Wyoming Black Hills.

Our home for the next 2 nights.  We will be "Boondocking" as there is no water, electric or sewer hookups here.  What do you want for $7/night?
The site I had reserved was barely big enough for us and the picnic area was on the wrong side of the RV, fortunately there was a 1st come 1st served site available to switch to.

The next morning, after a relaxing evening at the campground we head out to Devil's Tower about 28 miles away.

 Getting closer
We arrive along with a couple hundred bikers.  We have a National Parks Pass but were told it was free today - guessing they were overwhelmed with Sturgis riders.

I though I remembered walking up to the tower with Tucson last time we passed through 5 years ago but they are not allowed now.  Gary waits below while I do a quick walk up to get some pictures.

It is a fairly steep ascent up

You can see rock climbers in the crevices
I guess it helps to be a contortionist.
 Here is a video

 View from backside of Tower

Back at the bottom, I find Tucson has found the
latest member of the Tucson Fan Club.  She knows the spot!
Tucson always brings joy to everyone who meets him!
We tried to do lunch here but all the restaurants were mobbed with bikers.  We did find one but when we went inside the Menu was scaled down to three sandwiches and $16 at that.  The waitress said that was the menu for the next 2 weeks during the Sturgis Rally.  We decided to try Sundance.
I love the Black Hills, Green, Trees, Rolling Hills.

The waitress told us about a steakhouse in Sundance so we went to check it out.  Apparently so did a slew of bikers.
The only game in town not swarmed with bikers was a hotdog stand
 Look what I picked up.
Gary ordered a Patty Melt and I ordered a Grilled Chicken Salad over vegetables.  It was chopped iceberg with a few diced tomatoes and scant amount of overcooked, dry chicken - guess that was why it wasn't crowded.
On the way out of the way home we go up to Warren Peak where there is a Fire watch Tower.  Maybe I'll get my stairmaster routine in today!
We get there and I am very disappointed that it is closed due to Covid-19, you can only go to the first platform.

Social distancing is easy up here - the only other company are cows.

Tomorrow we move on to Custer, SD.
