A really nice US Army Corp of Engineers Campground located on the Missouri River. Was able to book 6 consecutive nights on the loop closer to the water.
No water or sewer but there is 50 amp electric service. $18/night but $9/night with America the Beautiful Senior Pass.
Our 3rd day there we get to talking to some fishermen at the fish cleaning station and they offer us some Wall Eye - who could refuse?
We are supposed to meet up with friends in Sioux Falls, SD but there are no sites available there for the weekend so we extend our stay here and move to the Upper Campground. Not by the water but no flies and plenty of room.
View from road near top of Dam
Big Bend Dam
There is a grocery store 1.5 miles away in Fort Thompson, but it is Indian Reservation and they are under lockdown so we have to drive 25 miles to Chamberlain for groceries.
It is usually windy and temps are in the high 80's to low 90's. One day we cross over the Dam to the Good Soldiers Recreation area for a swim.
Tucson loved it
I also work on some painted rocks
The welcome one I left icognito at the Gate house but they were able to track me down and sent me a text thanking me.
It threatened rain a few times, we did have one Thunderstorm and one Wind Storm while we were there but made it through both unscathed.
Lots and lots of seagulls
and a few Pelicans
On a slightly cooler day we hike out to this point
and find an Osprey Nest in the Power tower.
A nesting pair - think there are probably eggs in the nest.
She keeps a close eye on Tucson and me.
Here partner gives me the eye too
The sun sets on another great stay.
