Waynesville, NC- the 2nd week in July

It has been a wetter and warmer Summer than usual.  Humid and temperatures in the 80's.  Hard to complain when the rest of the country is in the 100's

Tucson says it's the dog days of Summer already

Finally get some flowers planted out front

And finally get my triple tree fungus painted

This week the Crafty Old Ladies paint rocks

Everyone was creative and did their own thing

Gary saw on Facebook that former neighbors were in the Smokey Mountains on vacation.  Got ahold of them the day before they were leaving and drove to meet them at Clingmans Dome for the Sunset.

The Elk were out at the Visitor's Center

Looks like it will be a nice night for a sunset

At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  We start the upward 1/2 mile hike uphill, it is an elevation gain of 332 feet so easier said than done

We make it and wait for our friends to arrive

It's 40 minutes to sunset but there is already a crowd forming.

Then there is the ramp to go up

We  make it to the top!

The views are spectacular

The sun starts to set

And then the Mountains become a painting

It was great hooking up with friends.

We come home to my new mushrooms lit up.

What a nice way to end the week!
