From the Seal Caves we drive up the Coast to the Haceta Head Lighthouse which we could see from the Caves
It's a nice trail up
A nice view back to the Cape Creek Bridge
and the Pacific Ocean
A glimpse of the Lighthouse ahead
The Keeper's House
And the Lighthouse! We missed the tours that ran until 3 pm.
It's time to find a spot for the night I located this US Forest Service campground for $20 / night with water and eletric
We are directly across from the water. The sites on the water side are dry camping only
Tucson makes a new friend of course and gets to stretch his legs
Lots of broken sand dollars along the beach, hoping I will be lucky and find a whole one
The beach is littered with these soft bluish things. Turns out they are Velella Velella - an invertebrate they use a tentacle like aparatus to eat zooplankton and small fish. Velellas float along the surface of the water and use a sail-like anatomy to catch shifting winds, blowing them about the ocean. Millions have washed ashore
Unfortunately the only thing I find beach combing is litter
We will go back South to catch Cape Perpetua at high tide before going up to Beverly Beach to hook up with our friends Beth and Art who are hosting there.
