Back to New York - Letchworth - Upper Falls Hike

August 22, 2018

Time to go check out the Upper Falls

View of the Falls and the Trestle Bridge

It is definitely a stair master hike
 Getting closer
Looking back down over the Falls
A train crosses the Trestle Bridge while we are there
The Power of the Water is amazing

There was a wooden bridge built in 1851 - 1852. At the time, it was the longest and tallest wooden bridge in the world.  It used all the timber of a 205 acre heavily timbered fores -1,600,00 feet of lumber.   On May 6, 1875, the wooden railroad bridge was completely destroyed by fire.  A steel replacement bridge was completed in 1875.
This new bridge opened last December.

Mt. Morris Dam next stop
