Homer, AK - back home

Oil changed and time to head home

We planned on doing the 7 Lakes hike on the way home but saw flashing lights ahead at one point and this is why - upside down car but apparently no one hurt.  As we pass the next mile marker we realize we missed our turn off which must have been right around the flashing police lights
We continue on and plan on stopping at the Russian River falls trail
Salmon fishing just opened a few days ago and the Russian River is very popular - the origin of "combat fishing".  When we get to the trailhead entrance there is a line a mile long for parking and we figure there is no chance with the 5th wheel attached so we ditch the hike.

We had seen a couple of moose along the highway driving back but I wasn't quick enough to get shot.  Did get one of this porcupine crossing

Back to Moose Pass - A Peaceful Little Town - If you have an axe to grind, do it here
Gary thinks we should bring our axe to grind

Back home!

Since we didn't get to hike on our way back we decide to head to Primrose campground and take the Lost Lake trail as far as the Falls - around 3 miles one way

It's a beautiful wooded trail
Not long before Tucson finds a watering hole
Which way do we go?  The topographic map at the trail head wasn't clear but I choose right.
I love this mossy kind of woodland

Another junction but at least this one is clearer
 Looks like Moose country
It has been a steady uphill hike and I am wondering if we took the right turn.  I say let's go another 5 minutes.  After 5 minutes we think we hear water so we continue on.  A 100 feet later we hear the Falls, I try a small trail to the right but it looks like an animal trail and looks like it dead ends so we continue straight.  After 5 minutes we loose the sound of the Falls again and decide to turn back and try this trail again
 Downhill
 across a creek
 Through the woods
 and there it is!
Time to relax and enjoy a well deserved power bar and the view
Back at the campground, which sits at the bottom of Kenai Lake, I look up towards home and it looks like rain might be coming in.  Good timing!
