Girdwood - Crow Creek Mine

My helicopter/dog sled tour isn't until noon, so we walk down to the Crow Mine site to do a little tour.  We came in Monday night and cooked rib-eyes on the grill to find out later they had a Salmon Bake here.  Maybe next time.
The mine was established in 1897.  The Blacksmith Shop, Commissary and Mess Hall date from this period.  Over the years they sluiced a 2000 feet of the creek bed to 250 feet deep.  There is a gorge there now.  It ran until 1938 when production costs got to high to be profitable.

Himalayan Blue Poppies

Anyone got a light?

The gardeners do a great job

 What's that outside the window??
Mid July of course the Lilacs are in bloom

Sometimes Gary is a bear when he wakes up.

 Good advice

 Views around here are spectacular

We take a hike down the path to the creek

A couple tries their luck at gold panning

Guess you need duck tails to be back there.

Time to head back for my Dog Sled tour
