Trip West - Alabama - Deerlick Creek, Tuscaloos, AL

 We arrive in Alabama

 We cross over a spillway

 Almost there

Looks like they have had some storm damage here too

and we arrive

We get to our spot which was a  bit of a challenge to get in.  Site 35, online posts say for larger RVs not to go past this site, you can see the tight turn.

Worth it as it is a beautiful site - just can't seem to go wrong with Army Corp of Engineer campgrounds.

Time to relax

The campground is located on Holt Lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway, just north of Tuscaloosa, AL

There is a dam just upstream

and a fishing pier just below us

There are some big barges passing through.

We head into Tuscaloosa to check out the Farmers Market

It's early in the Season so it is small and mostly indooors

We take a walk along the River Walk on the Black Warrior River

We turn around early as I realize I don't have my phone.  I remember trying to get a picture of some lizards and then setting down my phone to tie my shoe.  I scurry back but it is not there, I return to the Market to see if someone turned it in but they don't have it.  I get back to the truck and Gary got a call, someone found it and an off duty police officer happened to be there and took it.  So we meet her at the precinct and retrieve it.  It wasn't even a good picture

We head back and stop for Gas, getting hungry so we ask for a recommendation.  She says there is a good place just down the road so we head to Newk's Eatery,  It was very good except for the cold soup.

Tomorrow we head to Georgia
