1st Day Off

 Home Sweet Home
Our first night in the Park I looked out to see if there was a sunset and saw 8-10 Elk.

Started work the next day and worked two days.  We got Saturday off so we headed into town to the local thrift stores to look for a winter coat and maybe boots.  The Estes Park Thrift store has $5 bag Saturdays.
Didn't find a coat but we got a set of queens sheets, Van Heusen shirt for Gary, a pair of Capris and shorts, 2 pairs of gloves a hat and 2 books for me.

SATURDAY

Went to the other thrift store in the plaza and got a London Fog coat, a pair of Capris and Pants, a Cuisinart Bagel toaster, meat tenderizer, and coffee mug for $12.

Elizabeth Guild Thrift Shop | Enjoy Estes Park Information, Coupons ...

Now I can go for a walk!
There is a 4.2 mile loop around Lake Estes so we decide to try that since it is snowing off and on.

Tucson stops for a refreshing drink in the Lake
The Golf Course across the river
Lots of Fly-fisherman in the river

Guess they were catching some trout but man their hands had to be freezing off

Blue Bird

We got to the Estes Park Resort just before the dam.  We turned the corner there and got hit with a wind and sleet so we turned around.  We'd gone 1.25 miles.
We went back home to grab lunch and decided to drive the loop that was open in the Rocky Mountain National Park

I see its going to be a beautiful drive

The entrance to the park is only 1 mile away

Tucson pays attention in case we get separated

It's nice to not be towing the 5th wheel

 Tucson catches a few ZZZ's

We get to Bear Lake and I want to try to hike to the Lake.  Gary says no way he's too tired.  I call him a Wuss and he parks the car.  I said we at least need to go to the trailhead to see how far it is.  I'm not giong to hike 3 miles in the snow and leave Tucson in the Truck.

I ask him if he can make it 256 feet.  He's such a good sport.

Lots of people out snowshoeing and cross country skiing

It's like a Winter Wonder Land

Guess it's just as well we didn't bring our ice skates

Come across some wild turkeys on the way out

It was a great little side trip and we will definitely be back to hike the trails to the other lakes and the Falls when they are all thawed out!

Lots of Lodge Pole pines

Didn't see any Big Horn Sheep, Elk or Moose but saw a couple Mule Deer on the way out

Turning down our road just on the other side of the river the field was filled with Elk

Back to work tomorrow
