Cheyenne, WY

We leave Colorado on a beautiful morning

A beautiful drive
Must be Buffalo country
We make it to Wyoming!
We booked a Boondockers Welcome place for 2 nights

Looks like bad weather coming in
I try to take Tucson for a walk down the road.
but he wants to head home.
The skies were black for quite awhile and then it brightened up and when we thought we were safe, all hell broke loose.
Damage to all the roof vents
and the shower skylight
There was quite the electrical storm too
This was the hail after it had melted down a bit.
Unfortunately the truck got slammed too
After a couple days trying to find parts, we venture into town.
Caught a bit of the airshow

and went to the Cheyenne Historic Train Depot

Decided to check out the next to last Gunslinger show.  One of the gunslingers is from Rochester, NY
It's free and pretty lame.  Says he can shoot down 3 birds, plucked and ready to fry with just one shot.

Fortunately it is fairly short and we have time to venture over to Halliday Park to view the Cheyenne Big Boy Locomotive 4004.  25 Big Boy were built by Union Pacific from 1941-1944 in Schenectedy, NY.   This is 1 of 8 remaining Big Boys.  It tooks its final run in 1958.
Here is Gary next to it.  It is 132 feet long and weighs 1.2 million lbs.
Cheyenne has a beautiful Capitol Building
and a cool old fashioned downtown
busy train traffic
and some cool street art.

Fortunately, our boondockers welcome host is letting stay as long as we need
