Tucson - Play time

Not working this year allowed me to do some crafts.

I made bird feeders out of the pine cones I collected in King's Canyon National Park

Worked on a few spirit ladders

There was the Glass Blowing class

 I even tried leather tooling

 And took a clay class
My first projects.  The bowl with the balls on the top is glazed and the little white house which is yet to be glazed
 Lots of talented people
Some of our teacher Gwen's work.

.  It is always fun to see how they come out as the colors are somewhat of a surprise.
Back from firing the glaze

I decided to be bold and make a mug for Gary with a Halibut

We only had ten days left here before I finally got the glaze painted on.  I took it directly to the pottery studio to drop off for firing and was lucky that she was filling the Kiln the next day for glazed pieces.  So I can pick it up before we leave!

Finished!

Just when I thought I was winding down on my projects, my friend Sandy invited me to to go do a Mosaic Class

I decided to make a trivet out of a wooden picture frame
It took two classes because we had to let the pieces dry before grouting.

Ta Dah!

 And Sandy with her creation.

A fairly productive time in Tucson this year
