Back to the Lower 48 - Cassiar Highway to New Hazelton

We pulled over at the side of the road last night.  Had planned on staying at the Northway Motor Inn because I saw they had Winter Plug-ins.  Turned out that meant for car engines - oops
We head out bright and early
 a drive by Dease Lake

and a peak at Kinaskin Lake
We had been lucky to avoid road construction

Rescue Creek  .  . wonder what they rescue
 A glacier in the distance
Looks like we found the rescue mission
Turns out a couple weeks before a retired couple who sold everything and bought a new A class Motorhome to travel the country with swerved to avoid a bear and ended up in the ditch, RV totaled.  Thankfully they we unhurt.
We have a long road ahead of us
We encounter fog at Nigunsaw Pass.   A dangerous avalanche area
In 1999, two avalanche technicians were killed here while descending one of the avalanche paths doing routine field work
Over the River
To Bell 2 Lodge for Gas and breakfast
 The road passes several creeks
We were lucky enough to see bears on the way up - will we get to see some on the way back too?

The Nass River Bridge.  I did not get a shot of it going up to Alaska as I was driving.  I came down a long winding hill with plans to stop at the pull out before the bridge only to find it had no room, so across I went.  It's a single lane wood bridge 187 feet long 130 feet above the river bed.  I think I may have had my eyes closed too.

And we spot a bear!

A lunch break by a river

Pastoral views

The Hagwilget Canyon Bridge crosses 262 feet over the Bulkley River   We must cross it to get to the Ksan Historical Village and Museum, a replica Gitxsan Indian Village and they have an RV Park.

Did I mention I forgot to put the steps back in at our lunch stop?  One of the RV Park workers was nice enough to help Gary get it bent back in to the point that we could close them.
Tucson is loving the grass
The Museum is not open but we can walk around the buildings
There are 7 traditionally styled cedar longhouses, as well as various totem poles and dugout canoes.

Tucson wants to be a Totem

The campground is at the confluence of the Skeena and Bulkley Rivers.
Tucson had so much fun he exploded!
