Today we gear up for a drive down the Burr Trail which starts outside Boulder, UT and goes to Big Frog, UT on Lake Powell. We take Scenic ByWay 12 to Boulder
We never get tired of this drive
We reach Boulder and the Burr Trail
I guess we've been duly warned.
The trail begins in Grand Escalante Staircase NM
The Wolverine Loop runs off the Burr Trail but I've read it's pretty rough and not that much more to see.
Looks like it's going to be another roller coaster ride
A little information on the Burr Trail
Looks like we are getting to the start of Long Canyon - enclosed by sheer walls of wingate sandstone towering hundreds of feet above the road
The B&B owners told us to stop at the Singing Canyon. 1 Mile after the 1st big switchback on the right there will be a small parking space and a big cottonwood tree. Found it!
It is a small dead end slot where people with play flutes or other instruments for the acoustics.
We feel really small
View looking up from the end
Nice cool place
We continue on down the trail
The different rock formations and colors are unbelievable
This rock fell on top of the start of a Hoodoo
The size of these Boulders that have dropped down by the road
are quite intimidating.
Looks like the road may be opening up ahead
and maybe going down
We stop at the parking area and take in the view.
A painted desert and west side of the Waterpocket Fold. All 5 peaks of the Henry Mountains can be seen and the red mesas and buttes of Glenn Canyon National Recreation area.
Down we go

Now we are at the Western Boundary of Capitol Reef National Park
Shouldn't be too far to our next stop - Strike Valley Overlook
