Escalante, UT to Colorado

Finished work and it's time to leave Escalante, UT.

Our hosts Julie and Dan give us a good breakfast before hitting the road

and we're off!
Taking Scenic ByWay back through Grand Staircase Escalante NM

Make it through the twisting turning roads and now over the mountain
before Capital Reef NP

It's all open range here and we've passed several on the side of the road

Apparently this youngster has no fear

Tucson gave him the what-for about crossing the road without his Mom and he scooted back off to Mom and his siblings.

The views are spectacular

We make it to Capital Reef NP

The scenery changes from rad to white

and then starts to look a lot like the badlands

and an occasional farm

Our turn to go up to 70 and a good place for a rest and picnic lunch

More interesting rock formations

Then pretty flat until we get to our turnoff for 70

Make it to Colorado!

The original plan was to get to Rifle Colorado and overnight at a Walmart and get  grocery shopping done.  It is still early and I saw this State Park on the Map and it is right off the highway so we opt to spend the night here instead.

We get a nice pull thru site with electric

A small fishing pond across the road

and the Colorado River on the other side.

A lucky find for the night

Should make it to our destination in Nederland Colorado tomorrow!
