We wake up to a beautiful day and Coffee!!
Take the tent down and pack it away
Tucson and I walk down to Lower Barker while Gary starts to break down camp
Just as well we didn't come down here yesterday with chairs because there are a few downed trees in the way
But the water is so calm
We found out the hike to Island in the Sky that I want to do is actually on the road that Barker turns off from so we head that way. It is a climb up through a thick forest.
The road dead ends at a circle
Looks like the trail has been barricaded off.
It is another dirt road
with some really nice views of the valley below
We think that's the Reservoir at Petrified Forest State Park
and an occasional view back to the road we already traveled
Looks like we made it over to Posey
The ice and snow have all melted from when we were here last.
Tucson can't resist a dip while Gary talks to the Morman Family fishing
and I find a good place for lunch
After lunch we try the Posey Fire Tower lookout hike
Starts out at a barrier for cattle and wildlife
It is a steady uphill starting at 8,800 feet and goes up another 400 feet
It gets rockier towards the top
and finally the Fire Tower
and the view down to Posey Lake and the surrounding mountains
Almost back down
I think Tucson is ready for a big gulp!
We drive a little further up the road to check out Cyclone Lake
Not much of it left
We turn around to head home before the rainstorms come in. I spot this deer just off the road.
We make it back and stop at the Subway in the Gas Station across the street for Dinner. Two enterprising young men were selling lemonade so I bought a couple glasses from them

A really nice get a way from the news. Will attempt another overnight once I catch up on sleep!
