After Fort Pulaski we sneak into Savannah hoping that after 5 pm we will be able to find parking. We pull down street and find an open spot with a meter and find it has 2.5 hours left on it. God's Wink
We start walking towards the Riverfront and pass by some of the beautiful squares that Savannah is famous for. Forrest Gump made Chippewa Square famous with the bench scenes, where Forrest waited for the bus. The bench was actually a movie prop.
We are getting near as we see the dome of City Hall ahead
and the iconic Customs House
We head down to River Street and the Cotton Exchange
Down the stairs
River Street is just ahead now
There is a Jazz concert going on so we sit and listen for a spell

We do the Factors Walk
On our way back to the Truck we run into this Hearse Tour
I just love Savannah's streets
We decide to cut through a cemetery. Over 700 hundred people died in the Great Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1820 and are buried here.
Headed towards the spires that were behind the photo of the crypt and found Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
So glad we were able to make it into Savannah as Gary had never been here. Wish we had more time but we were lucky to get the one day.
On our way home we were starved and looking for a restaurant. Just about ready to give up we were turning around and I spotted a building across the street with yellow striped awnings and lots of cars. We drove over and it was a restaurant with a fuller than full parking lot but no sign or name. We found a spot in the adjoining lot and expected to have to wait a long time but got seated right away. I guess it was Spankys. Great food and friendly people. There was even a dime under the glass on our table.
