Day one in Columbia and the sun is shining! After a day of travel we want to get moving so we head to the River Walk by the Columbia Canal Waterworks.
and Tucson gets to come along
the Azaleas are blooming here too
you know I can't resist a stairmaster!
A great view of the canal and the boys below
and the Hydro-Electric Plant
and back down I go
across the bridge
Columbia was named for Christopher Columbus
the old pumphouse
Adirondack chairs line the Congaree River
The Congaree River is on one side of the trail and the Canal on the other. It goes for 2.5 miles
Cormorants and turtles sun themselves on the rocks in the River
A good portion of the trail is lined with Crepe Myrtle trees - not yet in bloom but beautiful none-the-less
Highway and train tracks cross the river
on the way back Gary and Tucson do the stairmaster with me and we walk along the raised portion of the trail
A beautiful day
