Today we decide to start with a hike to Tri-State Peak. A point where 3 States meet - Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky
The campground is in Virginia. Just down the road we enter Tennessee.
The Cumberland Tunnel lies ahead
We stop at the Visitor's Center
The trailhead is just down the road at the Thomas Walker Parking lot
The trail markers are quite unique.
The trail is 1.2 miles one way.
Just off our trail is a sign for Indian Rock on another trail. I can see it from our trail so I venture over. Can you see the Indian Chief
with Headdress standing on a rock?
Our trail turns here
This is Daniel Boone's trail from 1769 from N. Virginia through Tennessee to Kentucky. He lost his two son's on this trail guiding settlers to Kentucky.
It's a gradual uphill climb
We finally see what we hope is our destination
This is the point where the three State meet.
Tennessee
Virginia
and the boys make it to Kentucky before they take a break.
On our way back down we catch a peek of the Pinnacle Overlook on the Mountain across the way. We will drive there!
Further down the trail I was checking this hollowed out tree to see if there was a geo cache and found this Salamander instead.
On to Pinnacle Overlook
