Trip North - Maine - Acadia Cadillac Mountain

The Bar Island Walk took the snarl out of Gary so
we went home and took a 3 hour break.  We head to Acadia
with the truck to drive up Cadillac Mountain.  Our neighbors had just gotten back
and gave up on parking at the summit and turned around.  I am hoping getting there around 4 that people will be heading out for dinner.

Gary has been wanting to get his hair cut so we find parking at the Barber
and he goes in.
While Tucson and I do a walk around town

Time to drive up Cadillac Mountain
It is a windy 1.5 mile drive up

with breathtaking views as you near the top
We reach the top and there is a parking space immediately on the left so we pull in.  Turns out there were quite a few prime spots open at the top of the loop.

 We head towards the summit
 and it is breathtaking.
the boys ponder the universe
Off in the distance is Egg Rock Lighthouse in Frenchman's Bay.  Built in 1875, it is one of Maine's architecturally unique lighthouses, it has a square tower extending above the square keeper's house.
The Town of Bar Harbor sits below.  The Large Island to the left is
Bar Island where we hiked to this morning at low tide.
We make our way back to the parking lot

A Park volunteer offers to take our picture

and back down the mountain

A quick stop for ice cream

and then we check out the beach at the end of the road to the campground.

Great day!
