Trip North - Maine - Acadia Bar Island Hike

Gary says he is up to joining Tucson and me on
the Bar Island Hike.  It is available for only a 3 hour window,
1.5 hours before and after low tide.

Low tide is 10:15 a.m. so we take the 8:28 bus to Town

It is a sunny but cool morning
Tucson takes the time to smell the flowers

I look out to the water and think the water is still pretty high
for a hike across to that Island
Bar Harbor does a beautiful job with flowers all around town
 Almost there!

Relieved to see a sand bar ahead

It's a pretty wide sand bar and tide is still going out.

Don't recommend losing track of time if you park on the sand bar
We reach the trail to a view point on the island

See a couple of deer on the way

2/10  of a mile to go
 Hopefully the final ascent
 Sucess!

A view back to the sand bar

We run into the Bar Harbor chapter of the Tucson Fan Club
We head back and come across Milkweed plants with (hopefully) Monarch Butterfly caterpillars.
Back to the sand bar.  The tide is just starting to come back in.  Those cars have an hour and a half to move.
I stop and check out what is left of tidal pools

 Lots of barnacles
 We head back into town
and wait for our bus back
When we get back to the campground we see a Maine Dog Agility group
has set up at the campground
 Tucson says can I play!?
Sorry Tucson doesn't start until tomorrow.  Maybe we can check it out in
the morning.
