Trip North - Cape Breton - Cabot Trail Saturday Morning

Finally the start of the Cabot Trail.  It is a 185 mile loop.
There is a cable Ferry from Englishtown to Jersey Cove - it is only 136 yards across but saves about 30 minutes of drive time which is precious when you only have 1-2 days to do it all.   Thank goodness it's not flashing!
Looks like we have to wait for the Ferry to come back

 and we're ready to board
5 minutes later we are on the road again.
1st stop if Wreck Cove General store
On the road again and it looks like our road goes up that mountain ahead
It did - the view looking back
I read that this picnic area had some good views
and after following a small trail . . .
 We were not disappointed.
Our next stop is a hike on the Middle Head Trail.  It is near the Keltic Lodge
The trail is a 2.5 mile loop following a long, narrow peninsula
between two ocean bays,
We start out in the woods
and occasionally walk by an opening above the Bay

We continue on the trail to Middlehead
We are treated with more views and
it looks like we still have a ways to go to the end.
We came down from the woods to this section and walked into some winds.
Cape Smokey is across the way
Looking at all the pine cones on the tops of these trees -
looks like Cape Breton is in for a bad Winter
 Finally a stair master!
 Back into the woods
Looks like a good view ahead
Just got to get through these trees
 We made it!

 We take in the beauty

and head back.

We head back to the Cabot Trail
Thank you!

Off to find lunch and continue on the trail
