Trip North - Cabot Trail - Saturday Afternoon

We are both starving after that hike.  Restaurants are far and few between on the Trail unless you are in one of the larger towns.  We spot this one and there are
lots of cars which is usually a good sign.

We split a seafood platter and a bowl of fish chowder.
Gary let me have all the Mussels.

Our first pull over after lunch is Lakies Head

A little further down is Green Cove.  A short boardwalk takes you out the small granite headland.

 It's quite breezy out here.

We get off the Cabot trail and take New Haven Road
 through some fishing towns.

 Neil's Harbour Light
Gary wants to move in here
 Even the churches have lighthouses

We get back onto the Cabot Trail
We are in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park
I imagine this is what Scotland is like

The weather starts to look a bit iffy

Looks like we are headed back down.  The temperature here got to 50 degrees.
A look out to the Valleys

We stop for a short hike on the Bog Trail to see if we can spot a Moose

It is only a 1/2 mile loop on a boardwalk

No Moose but some  interesting plants like this Pitcher Plant

Back on the road - my original itinerary had us doing the Skyline Trail but it is getting late so we will back track tomorrow
It's a roller coaster ride down to Cheticamp where our motel is.

We turned in to check out this little beach
and it seems to be clearing up
We reach the Motel

We're not too hungry and ask where to go for dessert.  The desk clerk recommends this place as it is good to catch the sunset too.

and a nice sunset it was!

Tomorrow we back track to the Skyline hike and then head home.
