Off to see the Dentist in Grand Marais

Oh boy this week on my day off I get to go to Grand Marais to have a root canal!

To calm myself before getting there I figure a nice hike to some waterfalls would be nice.  I heard Onion River Falls is nice and it happens to be on the way.  The trailhead is at the Ray Berglund State Wayside rest area.

Interesting volcanic rock sedimentation along the highway

I don't see anyone to rescue Mom and Pluto won't share the ball!

It's a bit foggy out on the water this morning
Time to see the Dentist.  Actually they were very nice and did a great job - and it was about $700 less than I would have paid in Rochester.
Hmmm, maybe with the money I save I could trade up, after all it has my name written all over it!

TETTAGOUCH STATE PARK

After some grocery shopping in Silver Bay and topping of the gas, we check into the Park and take the hikes to Two Step and High Falls

Two Step Falls, only 1/10th of a mile, you can hardly call that a hike!

Uh Oh, Stairs ..
 more stairs
 Yep, more stairs
 Really?  More stairs?
Hopefully the last of them!  It may be called Two Step Falls but there were 185 Stairs to get there!

 This tree is hanging on!

I guess we can continue on the same trail to High Falls

Oh no!

Uh Oh - Tucson won't cross the bridge
Guess I have to venture out alone to get some more pictures

Are you coming back Mom??

Another hike takes us to Cascade Falls

Last but not least we try the Shovel Point trail.

Minnesota - Indian name for land of many steps
Worth not only for the aerobic benefits but the view as well!
Apparently people rock climb down to the base
Not sure I would do it !
I'll just enjoy the view from here.
We've gone at least the .6 miles, but it seems to keep going.   We're running out of time and steam so we head back from here.
