Waynesville - Last two weeks in May

Out with the old

and in with the new

Of course now I have to paint the cabinets while living inside.

Finding a place to keep them to set is a challenge

Mornings can be quite foggy

and we had a couple heavy rains

The farmer next door got his hay while the sun was shining

the watering got the flowers going

we finish off the month with a Memorial Day Picnic

We will have to take some time to have some fun next month!

Waynesville, NC - Week 2

This week we start the painting of the cabinets in the Reflection.  Gary gets the bathroom sanded.

Our friend Debbie from Tucson Meadows stops by for a visit with some friends.  She is looking to move here permanently from Tucson, AZ

I finish up the fire pit ring with some of the lava rocks I removed from the back stairs.

The front flower bed was empty except for some shelf fungus
left over after a tree was cut down.  I decided since they were in a flower bed,
 they needed to be flowers.

 3 left to go

Once we get the cabinets painted in the Reflection and the water warms up a bit,
we hope to get some fly fishing done here.

and Tucson plans on doing some more swimming.

Still can't believe we got this beautiful spot here

Sometimes I just lie in the recliner and admire the canopy

The neighbors finally get around to mowing the lawn.

The weather has been near perfect with temps in the upper 60's t o 70's.  We
do get one day and night of rain.  Won't complain about that with the huge fire out in New Mexico.

The upside of rain is a Rainbow!

I think Tucson really likes it here.

Well, back to work, the cabinets aren't going to paint themselves!

Trip East - Waynesville, NC - Home Sweet Home

Another sunrise and it;s time to head out, it's a long drive to NC

We get to NC but there is still a bit to go

We made it!

We park out front of our site to unload and a short while later the maintenance guy stops by and tells us we can park in a spot 2 doors down, the people won't be back this Summer but have paid for the spot.

Gary gets to cleaning the awning

I get the inside set up.  We haven't decided yet whether to live in this one and store the Reflection, or sell this one and move the Reflection over to storage.

It is like new inside for a 2004.  We have to paint all the cabinets in the 2018 Reflection because the pain is peeling.

and the whole reason we bought the trailer . . . .

The View

The other side of the Tenting area is Jonathan Creek

and Tucson's favorite swimming hole

and I finally get to do my favorite thing . . .

Gardening!

Next project painting the Reflection

Trip East - Myrtle Beach, SC - Grand Design Rally

We drive to Lakewood, it's only 10 minutes away.

Our site is in a section closest to the Ocean

Not too bad

We are the 6th site from the Beach entrance

We are given $40 in vouchers for Food at any of the concessions at the resort.

We do dinner one night at  Montana's Seafood

We get a Seafood Combo and a Fish Sandwich $20

At the end of our road is the pool and water park

There is a separate indoor pool.  I check it out while Gary is at a Seminar

This place is huge.  I has 1300 campsites and about the same number of permanent sites.

There was a rally breakfast

and dinner

and another breakfast compliments of the vouchers.

Looks like I will be arriving in NC with a full fridge.

I have always wanted to do sand sculptures and they were having a contest, so I signed up.

I began with a breaching whale.  Gary mounded the sand for me.  It's hard to sculpt as it is full of small broken shells.

 It's taking shape

and I quite while I'm ahead

I have 3 hours so I decide to do another sculpture,
this time something not as high - a Sea Turtle.  Being lower it doesn't tend to crumble as much

The rest of the sand sculptures are further up the beach.  One family came and saw mine and said they would go back and be sure to tell the Judges to come down and see mine.

Not sure if 2 sculptures is allowed, I decide to tie them together somehow.  After walking the beach the day before and finding orange and banana peels, peanut and sunflower seed shells and trash.  I came up with this.

I haven't had this much fun in the Sand since I was 5 years old!

After the Judges came by, I rode my bike down to check out the others.

Another Turtle.

A dolphin

and a Sand Castle built by the Family that came down to see mine and sent the Judges.

It has been quite windy, but temps have been in the upper 70s
Guess which way the wind blows?

There are some beautiful sunrises

The picture does not do it justice  - the sun was actually Orange

While we were here, Grand Design went around and checked all the RVs for recalls.  We had 3 but all was well.  They also gave us replacement skis for the dining room slide which had broken.

We woke up one morning to find water on the floor in the kitchen, traced it back to the hot water tank.  They had a mobile repair guy on site so we booked him as it didn't look like and easy access behind the drawers under the buffet.

The final rally gathering.  I got first place for the Sand Sculpture.  Gary got 2nd place for the Mini Golf tournament.

a fun 4 days at the Beach and Rally.  We are ready to go get settled at our Summer place in North Carolina!
