Trip North - Sidney - Week 3

The weather is hot and humid. 

We try to seek some refuge outside.  We wanted to go to Muddy River but this weekend is Alumni Reunion and we figure it will be a zoo so we try the Awestruck Cider instead.

No air-conditioning but it is cooler than outside and a nice fan overhead.

Gary had a flight of Beer and I had one of Ciders.

Fear not - we did make it to Muddy River the next night

We thought the Taco Truck would be there for dinner but it had been there the night before.  We chatted with a local couple who were also Boondockers Welcome Hosts and they suggested the Empire Hotel in Gilbertsville.

and the food was delicious

worked in the Garden

and reaped the rewards

Tucson made friends with the Cat

 and we started the Porch Project

Time to relax!

Trip North - Sidney NY - Week 2

Week 2 we venture out a bit.

We check out East Sidney Lake - a small reservoir a few miles away.

 A nice day for hiking we check out Oquaga Creek State Park

There is a 1.5 mile loop around the lake

 Tucson enjoys a swim while a Yellow Tail Butterfly goes by. 

 

 We brought our suits along so we could go swimming at the beach.

There were hundreds of Yellow Tail Butterflies on the Beach.  A group of Butterflies is called a Kaleidoscope.  They are what is known as "Puddling"  The butterflies gather to “puddle,” or absorb minerals and salts from the soil.

If the weather is nice we do an evening walk up the road with the Dogs.

 This Farm is the 1 mile mark

 The calves are interested in Tucson

 One day we ran into a family of Turkey.  They ran from Tucson.

Into one's life a little rain must fall.  Some days a little more than others.

We even took in an Oneonta Outlaws Baseball Game

It was Sam Nader's  100th Birthday

Celebration and the 50th 1969 Oneonta Yankees Reunion

 There was cake for all

We made it through the 4th  Inning but the score was 14 - 3.  Final Score ended up  16-5.  Too bad they didn't have a win for Sam.

We even took in a Play at the Franklin Theater

 The Play was excellent

 The walls in the theater were covered with a chalk drawing of a forest.

We finished off the week with a town wide sale in Unadilla

Trip North - Sidney, NY - Week 1

We arrive in Sidney, NY to house-sit for Gary's old neighbors while

they take there family on a National Parks tour through the US to Banff in Canada.

 Tucson likes his new yard

 Lucy isn't happy that her pack is gone - 

good thing she has a security blanket

 

Caleb enjoys his new sleeping accommodations while here.

We enjoy a nice firepit

 Gary finds some new toys to play with

I find a toy too - It's been 12 years but I guess it's like riding a bike

 A nice spot to enjoy morning coffee

 We explore the area and have to see the NYS version of Guilford Lake

 Tucson gives it a paws up

 I find my new Hoppy Place!

 It's Taco Truck Night

 It is a Farm Brewery but they also have Cider on Tap

 We sit inside to enjoy our drinks and Tacos

We get a comfy seat made from an old Canoe

and watch the River Run by.
