Hike to Palisade Head

Grocery shopping day so this week I'm off to Silver Bay.  On the way back I decide to finally investigate Palisade Head as I hear there are wild blueberries to pick

The sign said no over-sized vehicles road narrows so we parked at the bottom and walked up the road
Ventured down a side path near the top and got a peek at the view
and found the Blueberries, almost stepped on  them.  I was expecting bushes but they were more of a scrubby gound cover and very very small, but tasty

After picking about a 1/2 cup for a batch of blueberry pancakes,

we went to the top

Don't want to get too close to the edge

I look over and see people rock climbing

I don't know if I could do this!

Anyway I get back to the RV and can't find my phone.  I walk back to the top and try to re-trace my steps, no luck.  On the way back down I went back down the path where I found the blueberries and after meandering back and forth around the rocks actually found it between two  blueberry bushes, thank God!

Golf and Dinner at Grand Marais

We head up to Grand Marais after work to play a round of golf with our friends from Jekyll Island, Ada and Mike.  Mike manages the municipal golf course and Ada works there.

 Tucson had a blast
He ran alongside the golf cart
And went in every water hazard with Mike's dog Sassy.  Sassy will run and look for your ball if you hit it into the rough or out of bounds.  She's pretty good but I think she got tired of looking for mine.  I was having a really bad round

I had to end up tying Tucson to the golf cart because he was running onto the green and grabbing balls as they landed and rolled and tossing them about.

After golf Mike cooked us up some fresh herring at the clubhouse.  Ada made potatoes and a great wild rice pilaf.

It was absolutely delicious.  Then we had planned on over-nighting in Ada's driveway but Mike said he had room in his driveway at Devil's Track Lake.

So down the road we went

What a view!

 Not too shabby

He has a little slice of heaven!

Today I borrow the Suburu from work and we go to Lutsen to ride the Gondola to the top of Moose Mountain

This is the chair lift that takes you up for the Alpine Slides

These are the Gondolas

Our Chariot awaits us
and away we go!

Footings for the new & improved Gondola coming this Fall
Up top - looks like a perfect place for lunch

This is what happens when you leave the camera on the table

The view is spectacular

The seagull thinks so too
