St. Augusting - Week 14

We start the week trying out Matanzas Inlet
instead of Crescent Beach

It lies just North of the Matanzas Inlet and South of Fort Matanzas between two barrier islands.

You can walk beneath the bridge
and over to the ocean

We continue of exercise walks at Canopy Shores Park

and check out Ocean Hammock Park

a nice raised boardwalk to the beach through a live oak hammock

Just down the road is a sculpture garden that we keep passing and I keep saying next time I want to stop there.  Well today we finally do.

I bought tickets on Localflavor.com for the Alligator Farm so we do a Motorcycle ride into Town and stop for lunch at Bantam Chef

We order the Fish Sandwich Basket.

It's huge!

Even after I take out enough for my lunch

We get to the Alligator Farm just in time to catch the feeding.  They all have names and the one who is called comes and takes the rat.

We waited for a warm day because I thought if we went on a cold day they wouldn't be out - not an issue they are everywhere and even have a nursery

Apparently the turtles don't mind the alligators, even this albino one

There are other reptiles like the Galapagos Turtle

a Komodo Dragon

The Alligators all seem happy to see us

But I like the birds more

The whole encounter left Gary with a warm fuzzy feeling

We ride the Bike into St. Augustine to check out one of the last nights
of Nights of Lights

We are treated to a beautiful sunset

The lights are magical

We get a warm day but cloudy so we head to Princess Place with our Ipad and Kindle to relax and read on the porch

But first I take Tucson for a walk

We do get to see a Great Blue Heron fishing

We finish off the week picking up our friend Jean's daughter at airport in Jacksonville.

While there we stop at a few used furniture places to look for a replacement couch for the RV.  I found the perfect one at the 2nd stop.

Now we have time to kill so we stop at the Arboretum

Can't believe it is the end of January already!

St. Augustine - Week 13

The week started out great for Tucson.  There was a Deer trapped in the cemetery next door so it provided entertainment for Tucson.  Once I realized for whatever reason it would not jump over the fence, I went over one evening and opened the gate and it eventually left.

The next day he caught a squirrel, or actually it fell of tree into his mouth.  I yelled for him to drop it and he did.  I did end up running away.

Later that day we went to Princess Place Preserve for a Bike ride, Tucson led the way.  Went we stopped to turn around he spotted an Armadillo and took off into the underbrush in hot pursuit.

Got him back and rode back to the truck and got him in before we continued on a longer ride and saw this Armadillo.

Gary helped a friend pick up firewood for his campsite and helped stack it.

I ordered Canvas Prints to pu on the Kitchen Island and they arrived.

The Culvers up the road finally opened.  I had a coupon for a free sundae for my Birthday so we walked over - good thing because cars were wrapped twice around the building!

Took  time to donate blood

give and you shall receive!

and another round of golf - we tied!

The rest of the week was for the birds!
