Hike to Seven Falls, Sabino Canyon

We were invited by another couple in the Park to join them on a hike in Sabino Canyon

As usual the views are spectacular

We are taking the Seven Falls Hike

It's a hot day (80's) hope we brought enough water

There are several water crossings.  It's a Saturday and it looks like a lot of other people have the same idea.  A few traffic jams at the crossings.

Kip leads the rest of the group

Gary is doing well too

We pass through some interesting rock formations

There's water - can't be too far now

A view back from whence we came

Plugging away, Kip and Sue wait for us though.

Gary and Kip stop to enjoy the views

Finally!  The Falls.  Not like the ones in Minnesota but the snow melt was a few weeks ago.

 The last switchback

It's really hot and not much shade so people are cooling off by the water.

Kip is brave and takes a dip in the cold water

Sue and I just dip our tired feet.

After a picnic lunch we head back.  We think Gary has a bit of heat exhaustion and decide to take the Tram the final 1.5 miles.  Before it gets there Gary says he is okay to continue on.  I was looking forward to the Tram ride.  I look longingly at it passing by.

What a great day and beautiful hike.  It registered almost 12 miles on Gary's pedometer.  We stopped at Frost's Gelato for a reward on the way home.  Gary did not partake.  He had guzzzled some ice water when we got to the Falls and think that was a shock to his system.

I had hazelnut and sea salt caramel.  The girls next to us had this:

 Maybe next time!

We got home and Gary layed down t rest and there was a dance in the Rec Hall.  With the warm weather all the windows and doors were open and the music was so loud we couldn't hear the TV at full blast.  Enough is enough.  We went down to the office the next day to request a move.  Sue and Kip had just bought a larger A Class motorhome and were moving to a bigger site so we asked to be moved to their old site.  When I got home from work on Wednesday we were all moved in.

Much quieter and we now have shade in the afternoon!

The Gem Show

The Gem Show comes to Tucson every year for two weeks in February. It takes over the Convention Center, some Hotels and there are tents set up all over town.  We decided to venture out the last day to the one set up at 22nd Street.

This is the main tent on the East side of the expressway.  There are many more on the other side

There is everything from Dinosaurs
to Beads

Minerals

and Gems

Guess this guy moved a little too slowly through the show

My what big teeth you have!  The vendor let us know that since this was the last day of the show that the dinosaurs were buy one get one free.

Some interesting art work

Shiny things!
 Pretty in Pink

Any kind of rock or mineral you could want in any size.  The were packing up most of it when we went thru the outdoor tents.

I picked the 22nd street show not only because it was the closest, but I had heard about the African Village section.
