Escalante, UT - 1st Week - Work and Posey Lake

Every morning and evening, Tucson and I walk the town
The visitor's center - though it is closed due to Covid 19
Row of shops but all look empty

or have a museum setting

They guys always make a ruckus when they see Tucson

We walk as far as the Cowboy Motel on the other side of town

We put in 12 hours a week at the B&B.  We have settled into a daily schedule
of working 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Gary does some shrub installations
and while the owners were away on an overnight backpack trip, Gary painted the concrete floor in the Laundry Room

Looks good!  The owners were very happy with it.

I got to water the gardens and do some flower planting

Moqui  the resident Cat keeps an eye one me.
She's much happier since there have been guests coming back.

For a break, we drove the Pine Creek Scenic Byway
up to Posey Lake - a 17 mile trip on dirt road.
Tucson liked the drive because we could only do about 15 mph so he could enjoy the sites.
We passed some horses - horsing around.
It's a well packed gravel road
 With beautiful views

Oops the sign says Posey Lake Campground is impassable.
Guess we will go as far as we can.
 Still looks good
A snow pole marking the trail for snowmobiles doesn't  bode well

As we get further up there is still some snow around.  It was 80's when we left Escalante, it is 68 up here.
We even find enough snow for Tucson to play in

We make it to the Campground
The Lake is still partially frozen - Tucson dips his paws in and decides not to go for a swim.
Gary checks out the Camp Host site

We continue on - until we can't

Time  to turn around and head  home.  Will definitely continue on this road once the snow melts.

Escalante, UT - Canyons Bed and Breakfast

This will be our home for the next two months.
We work 12 hours each a week
in exchange for our RV site.
It sits on a corner on Main Street

So it's an easy walk to Town for groceries

It will be nicer when the restaurants and Thrift Store open

View from Main Street
View from back where entry to RV spot is.

Entry to guest lounge between Garage and House

The Patio in the middle of the back yard

Side street view

Back Yard view to 3 of the guest rooms

Here are some pictures of the rooms I got from their website:

The Cowboy Room - the only one that allows pets.

The Cabana

The Garden Room

 The Lodge

Kanab to Esclante, Utah

Ready to leave Fredonia and head to Escalante today.
Tucson says goodbye to his new friend
We go by Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and pull in
to see if they have opened yet.

It is still closed
Back on the road - looks like two ships passing
 We reach our turn off
 Scenic Byway 12
Start to see the Hoodoos of Bryce Canyon
 Uh Oh - a Tunnel
and another one
Pull over so Tucson has a potty stop.   I walked him down the bike path a ways, he went and zoomed back to Daddy
We can't get into our spot until after 3 pm.
So we decide to kill an hour our so here.
 Its a beautiful drive

Tucson and I were going to do a hike while Gary
had a nap
But he decided to join us.  1.5 mile hike up to a view point.
 All the views are great

A view of the camper in the parking lot below
I walked out as far as I could at the top
 Nothing but beauty
Gary and Tucson waiting for me.

A nice little hike and Gary did surprisingly well.
Looks like the ankle is finally healing.

Not much further to go.

Just follow the yellow signs
Escalante!

and our new workplace, Canyons Bed & Breakfast

and we're home!
