St. Augustine FL, Week 4

The week starts out with Drive-in church cancelled due to rain forecast, so we drive into St. Augustine for breakfast.  It starts pouring rain while we are inside, but stops just as we leave.

We decide to attempt to walk around downtown St. Augustine.
It is raining again as we cross the bridge

We park and it is down to a light mist so we venture out.
All quiet in town on a Sunday morning

We walk over to Flagler College
Formerly the Ponce De Leon Hotel built between 1885 and 1887 by Henry Flagler, Railroad and Hotel Magnate.  It had 540 rooms and
was converted to a college in 1968

The rain has stopped so we decide to walk across the Lions Bridge.  Looks like we have to wait for the bridge to come back down.

It is called Lions Bridge because of the lions that stand guard.

All clear!

 It crosses the inter-coastal waterway

Tucson checks it out

Not too much money here in Florida

 Another Rocket Launch

 Time for some golf

and  we make it down to Matanzas Inlet to see the ship that sank 200 years ago during a hurricane and was unearthed by beach erosion after a storm.

more beach fun

This snowy egret is enjoying it too.

More visits to the Squirrel Forest

Tucson isn't the only one looking

Thanksgiving morning we play 9 holes with our friends Rick and Catherine.

Then home for Thanksgiving Dinner

St. Augustine, FL - Week 3

Week 3 starts off with some better weather.
So, we head to the beach!  We can drive on it again!

The horrible heat and humidity has broken.  Mid 70's and a steady breeze.
Tucson loves it!

We walk along the beach

and see an Osprey trying to fish

It is quite windy to fly

Other birds are about
A Piping Plover

Royal Tern in flight . . .

. . . .and at the Bathhouse

A Willet Sandpiper

and the always present Pelicans

The Shrimp boats are out

This one in the far distance appears to be sinking

People trying to catch a wave

People on Bikes

and People on horseback

We visit our friends Amy and Rob to check out their 48' Catamaran they have been restoring for the past 2 years.  They have been doing an amazing job.

Their Dog Ollie - quite the little character!  They named the boat after him "CatDog" because he behaves more like a cat.

Made them a couple of wine glasses with the CatDog theme

They are living their dream and hopefully will set sail early next year,
though we will miss them!

Finally got a replacement for the 3rd Microwave Convection Oven
that died in 2.5 years.  An Airfyer Oven and Instant Pot instead

Another happy day on the Beach

We drive to Palm Coast to walk on the Waterfront Park trail

There was a Manatee swimming down the river but I wasn't able to get a picture, I did get one of this Heron and Egret

On our way out of the way home we decided to pop in at the RV Park we worked 2 years ago.  This time we managed to catch the train.

Didn't get a chance to hook up with any old friends but did catch this double rainbow on the way out.

Can't believe how 3 weeks have flown by!
