Winter 2024/25 - Cocoa FL last week March

Took a scenic ride along the Indian River through Cocoa and Rockledge

• There are some nice older homes

And some new McMansions

They want over $8,000 for homeowners insurance on our place can't imagine what they pay here if they can even get insurance 

I prefer the Grand Old Ladies

At the end of the line there's a Brevard County Park so we check it out.

There's a Nature Center and Boardwalk 

I guess the water has risen since the stairs were put in.

The Osprey are nesting now

I guess the vikings were before the pirates

And back to Cocoa

Hungry so we stop for lunch

The Florida contingent got together for lunch at Captain Hiram's 

We enjoyed the company of a Pelican

There were quite a few by the fishing boat that came in.

We went to a flea market with friends

Our church had a chili cook off

I made a white turkey chili.  Surprised it was pretty even between red and white chilis.  I got 2nd place in the childrens voting.

Only 1 month to go!

Saw this Heron Planter at My Island Thrift shop and had to have it! 

And Tucson had to lick the Ice cream container and did a great job

We road back down Tropical Trail to Dragon Point.  Saw how the top 1% live.

Houses are on the Banana River and their docks are across the road in the Indian River 

Someday we'll figure out how to get to the point before we get into the Drawbridge over the river.

Gary wanted to stop somewhere for a burger or hot dog for lunch but I saw the sign for Squid Lips and I had to go there.

Did not disappoint.  Gary had a 1/2 lb burger and I had the coconut crusted tilapia.with mango chutney - Divine!

Took A1A The Jimmy Buffet Memorial Highway back past Patrick Air Force Base.

And stopped to check out the beach

There were some big waves!

Finished off the week at the Cocoa Village Playhouse to see Kinky Boots.  A beautifuly refurbished theater.

Patrick Marshall was fabulous as Lola 

And Shane Withrow as Charlie Price 

The whole cast was amazing with only 5 weeks of rehearsal to learn the songs, dance moves and dialogue.
