St.Lawrence Seaway

We arrive at Robert Moses State Park in the St. Lawrence Seaway

A little concerning driving under the Lock on

is

The site I reserved was on the water side but was completely unlevel and the electric box was in a strange place so we changed to this site

Still has a view of the water

And we could still see the ships passing by

We went to check out the Nature Center but it was closed, so we hiked a trail while we were there.

We visited the Hawkins Point Visitor's Center

It's of information and interactive displays on the Power Dam

Power lines from the Dam

On the way back we saw Turkwys

And a deer

Nice night for a fire

Finally get to the Visitor Center for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Lock

A ship comes in

Going down . . .

And ready to leave

When it leaves, another comes in the other way

We watch from a deck on the 3rd floor

The next ship waits to enter the lock

These massive ships are raised or lowered 47 feet in 7 minutes releasing or taking on 22 million gallons of water

This one is 720' long, the maximum length for the Lock.  It literally just fits.  From stem

To Stern

Ships from 50 different countries come through this lock.  Each in and out in 20 minutes.

Leaves are dropping fast.  Time for us to leave

We watch one last ship go by

And one last fire

We get on the road and get into a little traffic

We arrive at Webster Park for 1 night so I can see my cousins

We get together for Dinner and have a great time.

Next we stop to visit my longtime friend in Rochester.  We Park in their driveway and have Deer in the Morning

A shorter visit than planned as we need to get back to NC.

We get a nice hike in with her daughter.

And end up finding a stray cat

After a few attempts to catch Tux (I named him because he was a tuxedo cat). We coaxed him into following, then leading us.

Bonding

Unfortunately a family with a dog came by and he bolted back into the brush.  Fortunately they were able to go back after we left and catch it.

Time to head back to NC
